Beliefs Test by Bruce | May 9, 2018 | 0 comments What do you believe? Answer these 20 questions about your beliefs for your own self reflection I believe that God: Exists and intervenes in daily events Exists but does not intervene in daily events Is a spiritual ideal, not an actual being Does not exist None When I think about issues of faith or spirituality, my foremost concern is: A personal relationship with God A framework of morality and hope A sense of connection to something larger than myself A rational understanding of whether religious claims are valid None I believe the scripture I know best (the Bible) is: Divinely inspired and accurate Is not limited by our interpretation, because GOD is greater than that Should be viewed mainly as storytelling or metaphor, not a literal account Mostly or entirely mythology None Which of these statements comes closest to expressing your most basic view regarding faith? Faith is important because it make us people better by encouraging compassion and moral behavior Faith is important because it fulfills God's wishes and protects our souls Faith is important because it helps us cope with the struggles and hardships Faith is not important None I believe that the universe we observe: Was created under divine guidance, but using natural physics Is natural in origin, but has higher spirits and spiritual aspects Was created supernaturally Is completely natural and has no higher aspect None I think prayer is: Heard by God and/or angels, and is acted upon Heard but answers may or may not be expected Best understood as a form of meditation or moral awareness I don't know None I think that following life: There is an afterlife in which we are judged, then rewarded or punished There is an afterlife for the virtuous but no hell; the evil simply ceases to exist There is reincarnation or some other condition I don't know and I don't think anyone else does either None Evil is present in the world because: GOD allows evil because without evil, good would not be so sort after God or a Higher Power wishes to test people Humanity is sinful by nature Of human failings; evil has no supernatural component None I believe that angels: Exist to do the bidding of the supreme being Exist and intervene to assist the pure-heartedly Exist but only watch us, taking no action Do not exist because I've never seen one and neither has anyone else I know None I believe that the Devil or demons: Exist and are active on Earth, working to corrupt men and women Exist in the form of temptation to sin, not as specific beings Exist but only in the supernatural realm, not in this life Do not exist because I've never seen one and neither has anyone else I know None I would say my own religious and spiritual beliefs are: Unshakable in my beliefs; I never experience doubt I am strongly committed to my faith, though sometimes I have doubts Moderate; part of me is spiritual and part of me is skeptical Agnostic, or hold no spiritual beliefs None Regarding those who hold beliefs that are sharply different from mine, I think: They may be sincere but are mistaken or ill-informed yet I don't know how GOD handles that because HE is a 'Just God' Many people acquire their beliefs through family or social circumstances they can't all be saved All beliefs are equally valid It's amazing the sort of nonsense some people will believe None Regarding the formal teachings of specific denominations, I: Accept most or all of what my Christian faith teaches Accept some of what my Christian faith teaches but also reject some Take practically everything taught by faith with a grain of salt Reject most or all formal teachings of religious belief as pure conjecture None Each day's news reports of crimes, natural disasters, and disease. My most basic reaction is: My faith is tested but I can understand how a just God allows the unfortunates events in the world I feel sadness, but accept that both the good and the bad of life are somehow part of God's plan Such tragedies make me confused about the nature of the Higher Power Tragedies and disasters in the world convince me there is no God None Regarding science and religion, I think: Science and faith are two aspects of the same ultimate truth and there is no confliction Scientific theories trouble me at times but do not reduce my faith We should be suspicious of scientists, since most of them are atheists Science eventually will disprove religion None In my view, God: Is everywhere and observes everything Is everyone and everything all put together Exists but is remote from human events Was made up by weaklings None I think children should: Be taught that the Bible is the Word of GOD and accept those religions that practice observing it's values properly Be raised to practice and not question the faith of their parents Be taught spiritual awareness but also be exposed to many religious beliefs Be encouraged to reject faith in favor of secular philosophy None Which of these four statements comes closest to your views about the character of existence? Higher purpose comes about through some combination of human and divine effort People should be moral and loving, but life itself is a chemical accident lacking inherent meaning Higher purpose in the universe is everywhere, divinely created and preexistent Regardless of whether we are natural or supernatural in origin, we can give meaning to our lives by practicing love and morality None What frustrates me most about faith is: hat no matter how hard I try there will always be spiritual work yet to do That even having faith and treating others well does not prevent bad things from happening to me or my loved ones That God allows so much suffering and evil That religions continue to create barriers and hostility between people None In regards to religion and morality: I think it's impossible to be moral without being religious It's possible but difficult to be moral without reminders from religion It's entirely possible to develop and live by a good moral code without religion Religion makes it harder to be a normal person None Time's up Submit a CommentYour email address will not be published.
